FURUNO DS-620-S Transceiver Unit is a digital selective calling (DSC) unit that provides distress, urgency, safety, and routine calling. It operates using the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) and it features such as Automatic Position Polling (APP), which periodically sends the vessel's position report to specified vessels or shore stations, and Distress Alerting (DA), which sends out a distress signal to all vessels in the area.
